Looking for lions? You won't find them in Emmen, but you won't miss them at all. One day isn't nearly enough to see everything in the Emmen Zoo. Don't forget to see Yucatán with your kids!
Not even a century ago our region was covered with peat-soil. If you want to know what living was like 100 years ago, you really have to visit the 'peat park' (Veenpark).
You will find the Market Square in the heart of the city, surrounded by cosy bars, restaurants, shops and the "Grote Kerk". You can even hear the Zoo at a little distance.
Do you want to go for a little walk or search for a "hunebed", a prehistoric grave? The Emmer Dennen woods are only a few steps away. Including several walking and biking routes.

Emmen is the place to be for all types of residents and visitors. Pick your choice: good restaurants, a city mall, cosy bars, a theatre, the cinema and the Emmen Zoo are some of the numerous possibilities. But don't forget the yearly events, the old woods, the heath land, several museums and the very authentic villages in the neighbourhood.
