If you like pancakes (and let's face it, who doesn't?), try the Pancake Ship in the harbour. At 43 meters long, this two mast clipper is full of pancakes and fun for kids and adults
For an afternoon stroll try the idyllic and historic park "Prinsentuin" near the centre of town, founded in 1648. Afterwards take tea at its elegant restaurant, De Koperen Tuin.
Why not visit Leeuwarden's mother and father? Our mother ("Us Mem" in Frisian) is a life-size statue of a pedigree Frisian cow. Our father ("Us Heit") is a statue of Willem Lodewijk of Nassau (1560-1620), the father of all Frisians.
The Eden Oranje Hotel is located in the middle of Leeuwarden's business centre. All major corporations are within walking distance of the hotel
Reasons to love city life in Leeuwarden Enjoy the down to earth atmosphere of this "Manhattan of the North" as you stroll around 16th Century canals, bridges, monuments and gabled houses. We recommend the Weigh House museum restaurant on the Nieuwestad, the beautiful city park Prinsentuin and the leaning tower Oldhove. Or if you fancy a break from culture and calm, hit the busy shopping area in "de Nieuwstad", and the cosy pubs on the Gouveneursplein and the cafes next to the hotel. You can do a lot in a day here.
Leeuwarden is a surprising city with a scale of opportunities.
The capital of the Dutch province of Friesland, Leeuwarden has a good share of venues for a meeting or reception with catering. Try De Koperen Tuin in the city park Prinsentuin (watch the yachts in the nearby harbour afterwards), the Grandcafé De Dikke van Dale (facilities for up to 20 people) or modern Intermezzo.
